I love written words, and I find that decorative illuminations embellishing them are absolutely beautiful. Different civilizations through the centuries brought the art of illumination of the written word to heightened levels with their particular artistic sensibilities. Application of gold leaf is a large contributing factor to their charm and I enjoy using it profusely. I am also fortunate to have studied with a Persian artist Fahime Zand to learn the Turkish art of illumination called Tezhip. More to come later on…
