In every culture, circle, triangle and square images are found to represent the human preoccupation with sacred symbolism. These archetypal images and forms manifest themselves in the crystalline patterns of Islamic Art, in the sand paintings of Navaho Indians, in Celtic motifs and in the Buddhist Mandalas. This series of paintings are Yantras, which are geometric configurations to aid in contemplation and meditation. The T-shaped portals represent the gates of one's consciousness; the lotus petals, spiritual enfoldment; and the inner geometric figures, the stages of spiritual ascent to the Divine.
