Elephant Prince, a children’s picture book retold by Amy Novesky,  is an authentic version of how Hindu god Ganesh came to have the head of an elephant. The stylistic approach I used to illustrate Elephant Prince was inspired by the Kangra School of painting developed in the Kangra Hills of Rajastan, India in the 16th century. Although I used gouache and watercolor medium instead of traditional ground pigments, my focus was to capture the mood of Indian miniature paintings. It was a humbling and joyous experience! I applied 23-¾ karat gold leaf for the embellishments throughout.
