about the artist
Belgin Kaya Wedman was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. As a teen she went to The Netherlands to study art, then traveled and lived in Europe for several years. After moving to the U.S., she completed her formal education, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from CSU Long Beach. She has continued her studies at UCLA and Art Center College of Design.
While developing her talents, a trip to India left a lasting impression in her color pallet and style of painting.
After working in the advertising industry as a storyboard artist for several years, she explored sculpting, murals, oil paintings and has accepted commissioned works. Eventually she focused her attention on children’s books and illustrated several of them. Her latest picture book is “Elephant Prince” by Mandala Publishing.
Currently she divides her time between creating book art, advertising and painting fine art pieces. She and her husband live in Malibou Lake, Southern California.
